Protect Yourself and Prevent Spam? |

| 1. | NEVER answer a spam !
If it comes from a email list, replying gives them your address. |
|
| 2.

Use Spam Block carefully.
For individual span it is okay. For email list spam, it blocks your list mail. |
|
| 3.
|
Avoid posts to list with copies
care of individual emails.
If a spammer is lurking on the list he'll get your friends addresses. Send a separate email copy to friends. |

| 4.

Avoid giving out your email
address to contests, polls, guest books, ....
Some use a fake email address in forms that require one. If optional don't place it in unless you trust the site and are willing to take the risk. |

| 5.
|
Do not place your email address
after your name unless you really trust .
In list archives the email address is often NOT listed, unless you've added it after your names. |

| 6. | Treat your instant messenger
ID as you would your email address.
Especially, for ICQ and consider blocking global messages. |
|
| 7. | Do not reply to unsolicited
e-mail messages with a "remove" request
because this only validates to the sender that your address is current. |
|
| 8.

Do not click on a URL embedded
in an unsolicited message
because this may reveal your address to that Web site. This may be prevented by a software program like Norton Firewall's privacy mode. |

Send a message to the abuse
department.
Typically, that means putting "abuse" before the domain. Example, spammer@themail.com would imply abuse@themail.com |

| B. | Report them to their State attorney general | |

Trace the web site in the spam
to it's host.
Report the spammer to his host. |
|

|
Determine the spammer's ISP.
Report him to his ISP. |

| E.
|
Set you firewall or browser
to block "cookies."
These may transmit back all your private information. |

| F. | Especially because of 8 and 9, get a firewall or privacy program !! | |
| G. | Report them to consumer and industry groups |
