| THE GUARDIAN UNLIMITED ATTACKS B5 FANS?
Fan began reporting this month that they had been slandered by the
English newspaper, The Guardian Unlimited. The British newspaper " The Guardian
" ran an article
in the Thursday edition on April 18, 2002 by Mike Anderiesz entitled " Working the web: Fans get nasty.
" In the story fans are referred to as "viewers with too much time on their hands and too few friends."
This caught the attention of several fans and characters so we sent our
reporter to get the scoop.
Ranger Dave : "The Guardian is a
rag. After the crud they published post 911 I have absolutely no wish to
ever read a copy. The only way that the Guardian differs from a Tabloid is
it's broadsheet in size. As far as I'm concerned, the Daily Star is more
reputable. I used to hate the Sun, but apart from the boobs on Page 3,
it's a pretty good paper., better than the Guardian anyway... a toaster manual
is better than the Guardian ... "
Fan : "But the writers seem to get much
better cannabis, than is available to those at the New York Times and the Wall
Street Journal.
Jesse : "If it is a real newspaper could we start a 'FIRE THIS
LOSER FAST' web ring."
Colin : "I don't
think they like sci-fi!. It's a English paper, no class."
Hayley : "... I
must admit I have seen too many of these editorials written by people who have
no life anyway and can only see their next pay cheque and who they are going
out with tonight instead of opening their eyes to the whole of humanity
instead of dissing what they know nothing about. "
Ta'Lon : "This just
wasn't quite cricket. I would like to invite Mike to join myself and the
guys on the Narn Bat Squad for a quick game. "
Lord Reffa : "
He can have my spot on the team." Garibaldi
: "We are not as bad as Mr. Anderiesz infers. Myself, I would be glad to give
him a tour of the station beginning with the air lock." Susan
Ivanova : "The guy needs to learn the B5 Mantra." Zathras
: "Not good, very bad for Zathras." Death
Walker Jadur : "What does he mean ' too few
friends.' I have friends! I cook with them. " Mr.
Morden : "Mike Anderiesz is one of us beyond the Shadow of a doubt." Alfred
Bester : "
Some of my telepaths have dealt with the Guardian. We could not read them at
all. I assume they are mindless." Mr.
Nakaleen Feeder : " I can attest to that." Galen
: "When the halodemons start showing up on Guardian computers, don't look
at me. I do dragons." Colonel Ari Ben Zayn
: The Guardian, I love it. Why do you think we came up with the name
"HomeGuard?" I definitely
appears that The Guardian sparked a debate. We will have to wait to see the
fall out.
