Malcolm Bridges is a human Ranger .  He served with David Martel on the Liandra as a covert operations, intelligence and infiltration specialist.  He is a supporter of his Captain and strongly defended him against the Valen's Captain Tannier.

 

The Liandra was thought to be haunted and cursed. The prior crew were all found dead on board.  This has yet to be explained.

Note that Malcolm has the ability to assume the appearance of others with a holo suit.
