Biography

David was assigned to the as first officer under Captain Gregg.

However in battle Martel was seen to have broken that code when he ordered the withdrawal from battle to save the crew of his crippled vessel, the  Enfalli.  For this he became notorious among some Rangers, especially Minbari. 

Among that crew were a Minbari Ranger Dulann , and a human Rangers, Sarah Cantrell and Malcolm Bridges.  His path would cross there's again.

First was Dulann.  Martel was assigned to security at a Minbari industrial complex.  This was not a choice posting for a star ship Captain, but it was necessitated by the cloud over his status as the council decided his future.  One of his tasks was to end the smuggling of dust at the site.  He does this with the help of an opportune Dulann.

Eventually, The Ranger Council decided on Ranger Martel and summoned him to headquarters on Minbar.  There too were two of his old crew, Dulann who summoned him for the council and Sarah Cantrell.  Also there was Ranger Tannier who subscribed to the view that David acted without honor.  Tannier, like many, was not swayed by the defense provided by G'Kar and friends like Sarah.  

Unlike Tannier who got the Valen, a prime ship, Captain Martel is given the Liandra, a twenty year old ship that was still in service due to a shortage of vessels in the fleet. It was rumored to be haunted and cursed, and the prior crew were all found dead on board.  This has yet to be explained.  Sarah and Dulann were among the new crew of the Liandra.

The first orders were to escort the Valen on a diplomatic mission. This first mission for the Liandra was to be a milk run.  It was not. No further data on Captain Martel is available at this time.
